“Hum Honge Kamyaab” is a dynamic youth empowerment initiative launched in the Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara district, aimed at building a brighter future for the region’s youth. The program focuses on career counselling, skill development, personality enhancement, and motivation, helping young people become confident, competent, and employment-ready.
The scheme is built on three core pillars aimed at empowering youth through.
1. Career Counselling
2. Skill Development
3. Employment.

Under the Career Counselling and Guidance component, the initiative offers expert-led career counselling sessions to help students and young individuals make informed decisions. It includes personal profiling through SWOT analysis to identify individual strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. A comprehensive Career Guide Book and the establishment of Career Information Centres (CICs) provide accessible resources for career planning. Additionally, the scheme fosters an alumni network to facilitate mentorship and inspiration from successful individuals in various fields.
Recognising the importance of mental well-being, the program integrates mental health support and de-addiction awareness through the Nai Disha Abhiyan, which addresses issues like stress, substance abuse, and psychological distress. Suicide prevention training under the Gate Keeper model, along with initiatives for stress management and prevention of alcoholism and drug abuse, form a critical part of the program’s holistic approach to youth empowerment.
The Skill Development pillar focuses on equipping youth with relevant and in-demand skills to enhance their employability. It includes coaching and exam preparation for various government and private sector recruitment exams, enabling aspirants to compete effectively. The scheme also emphasizes customized training programs tailored to market demand and the specific interests of the youth, ensuring alignment with current job trends. To provide hands-on experience, the initiative promotes collaboration with industries for practical training opportunities. Furthermore, skill development is facilitated through established institutions such as Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), Livelihood Colleges, and other recognized training centers, creating a strong foundation for sustainable employment.
Employment initiatives focus on effectively connecting job seekers with potential employers through various digital and institutional channels. Online job portals, including district-based employment platforms and government-supported job boards, play a crucial role in streamlining access to employment opportunities across sectors. Additionally, career support is provided through a range of government schemes and incubation centres, offering guidance, skill development, and mentorship to enhance employability. These centres also serve as a vital resource for aspiring entrepreneurs, offering support for start-ups and fostering innovation through access to funding, training, and infrastructure. Together, these initiatives aim to create a robust ecosystem that promotes sustainable employment and encourages self-reliance through entrepreneurship.
In the district, a significant gap was identified in the availability of career counselling and guidance for youth and students. This lack of direction often led to stress and frustration, causing many to fall into harmful habits such as alcoholism and drug abuse. To address these pressing issues and steer the youth towards a positive and productive path, a district-level platform has been launched. This platform aims to tackle multiple challenges, including the lack of accessible and reliable information about career opportunities, current job market demands, and the potential for self-employment. Additionally, it seeks to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction and provide support systems to prevent substance abuse. By equipping young individuals with the right knowledge and resources, the initiative aspires to guide them towards informed career choices and a healthier, more empowered life.
