Shweta ChariShweta Chari is driven by the need to bridge the gap between at-risk children and their mental wellbeing as well as cognitive development well within our lifetime. Cognizant of the ‘power of play’ in strengthening the early years so that children grow up to be well-rounded adults, Shweta spent time organizing toy & game donation drives and volunteering with NGOs that worked with underserved children. Throughout this time, she saw in at-risk kids a desperate need for happy childhoods so they could grow up with joyous memories and be better individuals filled with kindness and empathy. Thus came into being Toybank — Development Through Play in 2004, which uses its Play2Learn program with the long-term goal of nurturing Early Childhood Development through Play. Daily, the non-profit impacts 56,000+ children at 400+ Play2Learn Centers across 12 districts of Maharashtra.

Ardently pushing play forward, Shweta has written and spoken on the subject at many forums, including Right to Play, which was published in The Global Journal. Owing to her efforts and championing for mainstreaming play, she was awarded the ‘Game Changer’ Award (2016) by HR Club of India, Star Social Entrepreneur Award by Indira International Innovation (2011) and the Woman of Courage Award by Godrej (2011). In 2013, Shweta was labelled as the ‘Young Achiever’ by the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce. She was selected as one of the Young Turks on CNBC’s programme and was featured on CNN IBN as a Young Social Changemaker.

Inspired by the ethos, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men,” the Electronics Engineer continues to uphold the cause of learning and development through Play and works with a sense of urgency to address early childhood mental well-being to create a solid, empathetic society at large.

Charanjeet Kaur DhillonCharanjeet completed her BA from Maharani's College and her MA in History from Rajasthan University. Her life's journey took a significant turn when she found a caring life partner and friend in Mr. Ravinder Singh Dhillon (IPS, Retd.). Driven by a desire to find deeper meaning in her life, she gradually wound up her business enterprise and, in 2002, realized the dream of establishing Bal Bhavan Jaipur.

Bal Bhavan Jaipur was created as a non-formal education centre with the vision of helping children rediscover the joy of learning. The institution focuses on holistic education, empowering children to become aware and responsible citizens. By 2003, Charanjeet had completely shut down her business enterprise to dedicate herself exclusively to the cause of meaningful education for all children that Bal Bhavan Jaipur could reach out to.

This unique institution follows a participative and community-based voluntary model, where like-minded individuals come together to contribute their time and expertise. The goal is to offer children from across the socio-economic spectrum a safe, conducive environment to learn and develop their abilities, free from the pressures of formal education. The 18-year journey of Bal Bhavan Jaipur has been a vast learning experience for both children and facilitators.

Today, the institution is focused on helping children from the most disadvantaged sections of society gain entry into mainstream education, enabling them to create opportunities for themselves. Through education and awareness, children from slums and underprivileged backgrounds are earning accolades in both academics and sports. Many of them now volunteer at Bal Bhavan Jaipur, helping younger children achieve their dreams.

The greatest testament to the work of this institution are the 13 Bal Shree Honours awarded to the children of Bal Bhavan Jaipur between 2004 and 2015. In 2009, National Bal Bhavan recognized and felicitated the exemplary contributions of Bal Bhavan Jaipur towards value-based education.

Sanjeev ShriyaSanjeev Shriya has spent the better part of 3 decades in defining the landscape and creating new pathways for Identity and Digital security in India, with biometric and smart card technologies at its core.

He founded Smart Chip and Syscom, the two companies that spearheaded the adoption and proliferation of Smart Cards, Sim Cards and Biometric Identity solutions in India.

Starting with the launch of India’s 1st SIM card for cellular telephony in 1995, Sanjeev has collaboratively participated with the Telco industry in the revolution that is cellular telephony in India. His very early and deep engagement with majors like Hutchison Max (later Vodafone), Airtel & in recent times with the latest entrant Jio, has helped India transform the global communications eco-system. Under his leadership, his production facility in Noida for SIM cards & Smart Cards produces a little over 600 million cards every year; which is a shining example of “Make in India” for electronics hardware.

Sanjeev has always believed in use of technology for big changes in status quo. His evangelisation of the eco-system and regulatory regime to permit the use of the Aadhaar database for easy Kyc for SIM subscribers, led to his developing the biometric identity / technological infrastructure that had Jio acquire 100 million telecom subscribers in just 120 days. More recently Sanjeev is deeply involved in helping in the definition of regulatory and technology standards and the eco-system for managing the explosive growth of IoT in India, to allow for a secure, safe & reliable network of connected objects.

Sanjeev believes that the benefit of technology MUST reach the bottom of the pyramid. As he says “big changes must reach the grassroots; unless the roots are strong, the grass cannot remain green”. His thought leadership, vision and engagement has helped ideate, evangelise, create and foster a number of high impact national programs in India.
